Don’t miss this multi-faceted live production of music and film… re-imagining the artistic vision and striking meaning of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, the prescient 1927 film about a foreboding future.
In this full-throttle rock-opera, the story takes place in a highly stylised futuristic city where a beautiful, exotic utopia exists above a depressing underworld populated by faceless, mistreated workers. Audiences today can identify with the film’s deeper moral desires and the underlying political themes, which today still resonate.
The work will incorporate this magnificent film underpinned by live music written and performed by HoneyBird. Special guests include Ami Carney on drums and percussion, Jon May on keys, Sonia McMahon as second vocalist and distinguished local string quartet ‘Sedici Corde’. Plus an updated narrative arc for this classic by Ian Golding.
A special pre-show presentation ‘The Alice Project’ written by Nycole Prowse with a score by Mark Ferris will be debuted at the Maleny show and again at the Eumundi performance. A theatrical first, not to be missed!

Eumundi Live… one of the best little boutique music festivals going – and the 2014 ‘WinterSun’ Festival took Eumundi Live to a new level. A bunch of great artists over two stages ranging from funk, thru soul, bluegrass, rock, folk and indie-pop. On stage were artists such as Elliot The Bull, Tanya Batt, Funkzilla, His Merry Men, Kyle Lionhart, Mustered Courage, Christian Patey and Hannah Rose.
‘WinterSun’ also played host to emerging Sunny Coast artists in our brand NEW TALENT QUEST, ‘EumundiLive Idol’ – giving local artists the opportunity to play in front of a much larger crowd, with career enhancing prizes and other opportunities to the artist who wins. Local singer songwriter Keely Young took out the top award and won a recording session at Jungle Sounds, Sydney; private music career mentoring with Rob Carroll from Pumped up Kids; and a paid slot at the next Eumundi Live.
Profits were achieved for vital local charities: Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Katie Rose Hospice and Riding for the Disabled.
We sincerely thank the Sunshine Coast Council, as this project has been assisted through their Grants Program.
