The Strangest Dreamers, based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, are recent winners of this region’s nationwide ABC band search for the best band you’ve never heard, “Exhumed”.
They have performed at the 2011/12 Woodford Folk Festival and the 2012 Illawarra Folk Festival and the Noosa Jazz Festival and are named after Ed McCurdy’s famous song “Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream”. The song is an affirmation of hope and peace in these troubled times.
Their repertoire of original songs encompasses a broad range of musical genres; inspired by the music of early Jazz years, Swing Blues, Roots and Gospel, to Classic Rock. Add to this a diverse repertoire which includes composers like Willie Dixon, Leadbelly, Hank Williams, Jimmy Rodgers, the Stones, Dylan, Hendrix and many others.
The Strangest Dreamers have two Cds available Sleepwlaking & It’ll Be Alright and are: Jim Dowling; lead guitar, harmonica & vocals, Pat Craigie; 6 string, 12 string guitar & vocals, Brenton Woody Woodman, Jon Brown; bass & vocals.
We’re pumped that these cool bluesman are raising the curtain at the kick-off event, Sunday 24 November!
